Man dies following collision in Middlesborough

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

A man has died following a collision in Middlesbrough yesterday evening (7 February).

The incident happened around 10:05pm on Borough Road, when a Volkswagen Golf was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, believed to be a man in his twenties, died at the scene.

The man’s family have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and he remains in police custody at this time.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have dash cam footage, who has not already spoken with police, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 023450.
