Fireballs and explosions this half term at Newcastle's Life Science Centre
Exciting activities with science and space focus for families this half-term
Families seeking exciting activities this coming half-term can look forward to an array of science-focused experiences at Newcastle's Life Science Centre.
From the 14th to the 22nd February, the centre will host special guests, Wonderstruck, who will present their Rocket Show. This thrilling show promises explosive bangs and showcases the science behind rockets, offering attendees a unique learning experience.
Additionally, visitors can enjoy the live science show 'Find the Fake,' which delves into the role of AI in everyday life, revealing how the brain can be deceived and how to identify fakes. The show is filled with illusions and challenges, proving that appearances can be deceptive.
For budding astronomers, Life Science Centre's Planetarium offers a new 360° experience with a presenter-led domeshow, 'The Sky Tonight - Orion.' This immersive viewing provides a simulation of the night sky free from pollution and cloud cover.
Furthermore, families can explore the search for extraterrestrial life in 'Life: The Greatest Story,' as well as enjoy the children's show 'Bump in the Night,' a narrative about the mysterious shadows and sounds experienced by a young child.
Creativity can also be unleashed in the Making Studios, where families have the opportunity to create cardboard selfies, or in the Experiment Zone, where children aged 7 and above can test materials suitable for an astronaut’s helmet visor using ultraviolet light.
The admission ticket includes access to all these activities, as well as the latest exhibition Lightbox, which features Europe's largest tornado tower, and a Play Zone area for children under seven.
