It's hoped a World Cup football summer will help inspire the next generation across the North East
Less than a month to go until the men's football World Cup kick starts
Ahead of a World Cup football summer, Newcastle United Foundation charity says they hope it will help inspire the next generation to get involved.
There is less than a month to go until the final two qualifiers for next year's Women's World Cup, just days before the Men's World Cup tournament gets underway.
Ellie Tanser, FA regional talent ID coach in the North East, said: "It brings people together, we've seen with the Euros, the last two Euros, like the buzz after it and the amount of girls that have joined football since, like we have seen a real big buzz, so hopefully it does exactly the same and I don't see why it wouldn't."
Sarah Burn, Newcastle United Foundation Premier League Kicks Coordinator, said: "Exposure for women's football is massive now. It's getting bigger on social media, the presence around local news and TV. That's what we need. We need that exposure. We need young females and girls to be able to look at the telly and go, I want to be her.
"To be able to watch it and see the enjoyment on the faces and all of them females on the pitch, all 22 of them, the subs, the staff as well, where they're female and be like, wow, I didn't know that I could be that, I didn't know I could be there because normally it's just men but it's going to be massive and it's going to be really exciting.
"Seeing the surge after the Euros and winning that, World Cup wise, regardless if they're successful, which they will be, and I don't expect any less, it's going to promote women's football even more and the region's just going to get bigger, there's going to be more opportunities, there's going to be more experiences."
