Police are appealing for information about 7 people they'd like to trace in connection with reports of disorder at March's Tyne Wear Derby.
Following the Newcastle United FC v Sunderland AFC fixature on Sunday, March 22, police were alerted to pockets of disorder involving both sets of fans in the city centre.
There was a proportionate policing response in place – with three arrests made on the day and the event passing largely without incident.
However, the Force’s Football Policing Team were then alerted to a number of videos circulating on social media – which appeared to show incidents of disorder, including individuals acting aggressively towards others, throwing objects within crowded areas, and causing damage to property.
Those involved were understood to have subsequently left the area, and the incidents have been under investigation by Northumbria Police.
Today as part of their ongoing enquiries, officers have released images of seven men they would like to trace in connection with the reports.
Those pictured were believed to have been in the area at the time and may have information which could assist police.
The men pictured, or anyone who knows them, should contact Northumbria Police by sending a direct message through their social media channels, or by using live chat and report forms on the Force’s website.
