Dads in the North East are learning how to style their daughters' hair at a workshop in Gateshead.

They tell us the sessions have been inundated with people wanting to join.

Roger Raiye, manager at No.1 Training Academy, said: "It's all about just education and learning, and I think it's great for the North East.

"It entitles the fathers, boyfriends, carers, etc. to obviously style, plait, twist, look after the hair, maintain the hair on their young daughters.

"It's becoming really, really popular. We're inundated with people."

Roger explains where the idea came from.

He said: "Me and my wife, Claire, sat down, and did a brainstorming exercise one night and it just came along to me.

"I said, you know what, there's nothing out there.

"And having said that, I was actually doing my daughter's hair at the time and I thought, there's nothing out there for men.

"We need to do something, so that's what we did."
