Cramlington leisure facilities to receive almost £2Million improvement

Northumberland County Council has agreed to fund a significant upgrade of leisure facilities in Cramlington with a budget of nearly £2 million.

The project will enhance Northburn Community Centre with a new 3G football pitch and car park, amounting to a total cost of £1.5 million.

Funding for this facility will include contributions from the council, the Football Foundation, and Cramlington United Football Club.

Additionally, Alexandra Park will benefit from a new skate park, expected to cost £350,000, fully funded by the council.

Council leader Glen Sanderson expressed excitement about the enhancements, stating they will be a beneficial asset for the community.

Coun Wendy Pattison highlighted the importance of addressing the shortage of quality football pitches in Cramlington.

Meanwhile, Coun John Riddle emphasized the modernization of the skate park to better meet the current demand and improve facilities for young people.

Both projects received unanimous approval from the cabinet, ensuring their advancement.
