Child suffers serious injuries in suspected hit and run in Newcastle

An investigation is underway after an 11-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a suspected hit and run in Newcastle.

Northumbria Police have confirmed emergency services were called to Denton Road at around 5.30pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 3rd March 2026).

The boy was struck by an electric Sur-Ron-style motorcycle, whose rider reportedly fled the scene.

Emergency services arrived on the scene, and the child was transported to the hospital with a broken leg among other serious injuries.

His family has been informed, and he remains in the hospital receiving treatment.

Authorities are seeking help from anyone who may have witnessed the accident or have footage from before, during, or after the incident.

Witnesses or those with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage are encouraged to come forward to assist with the investigation.
