A 12-year-old boy has died after he fell from the roof of a barn, police have said.

It happened around at premises at Woodhouses, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, at around 2.45pm on Friday.

He has been named by Durham Constabulary as Jaxon Hubery, from Bishop Auckland.

Police said he was with a group of friends when he sustained serious injuries in the fall.

Jaxon was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, for treatment and died on Tuesday as a result of his injuries.

Police said Jaxon’s family thanked those who have given them love and support through their ordeal.

“They are also urging other parents to keep their children away from the area,” police said.

Officers were working with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances.
