Armed Forces Day celebration in County Durham
Today (27th June) marks Armed Forces Day
Communities across the North East are telling us how they are celebrating Armed Forces Day.
They say it is an opportunity to show support for the people who make up the armed forces community.
Andy Cammiss, CEO of East Durham Veterans Trust, has organised an "action-packed" event in Murton starting at midday.
He said: "We're going to be at the Glebe Centre, which is in Merton County Durham, just next to Dalton Park on A19.
"We're going to have a small parade on. Straight after that we've got live music all afternoon.
"We've got activities for the kids, face painting, people coming in with stalls."
He continued to say: "Armed Forces Day should be a celebration, should be a celebration of the armed forces, should be a celebration of the people who are still serving as well as the people who have served.
"We have Remembrance Day at the end of the year. This is more of a celebration of our current armed forces, our current veterans.
"Just think it's a great opportunity, for everyone to come together, for old friends to come together, for all the people you've served with, and just really have a good day.
"Celebrate what the armed forces is about and celebrate what we've achieved when we've had our service within the military as well."
