A 23-year-old man from West Auckland, Josh Bainbridge, has died following injuries sustained in a car collision last November.

Bainbridge was a passenger in a Ford Fiesta involved in a collision on Leazes Lane, St Helen Auckland, on 8th November.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering life-changing injuries in the crash.

He died on Monday, 4th May, according to authorities.

His mother, Rachel, expressed her grief, saying her heart was shattered and her soul destroyed.

She fondly remembered Josh, describing him as a 'proper gentleman with a heart of pure gold.'

Her tribute highlighted his passion for fishing and noted the pride she felt for her son.

Rachel said, “Rest in peace my darling boy, you were taken far too soon… You were one of a kind – a proper gentleman with a heart of pure gold who had a real passion for fishing…”

She expressed a desire to learn fishing herself in his honour, hoping he would watch over her.

“No matter how big you are, you will always be mammy’s little soldier. We will meet again one day and when we do, I will never let you go,” she added.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision continues.
