Celebrate the Year of Reading and win £500 of books for your school

2026 is the Year of Reading, and we’re inviting schools across the North East to turn their love of books into something truly life changing.

At Cash for Kids, we support disadvantaged children and young people in our local communities, helping to provide essential items, opportunities and experiences they might otherwise miss out on. By taking part in our Year of Reading fundraiser, your school can help make a real difference – while boosting your own reading resources too!

Raise £100, win £500 of books

Any school that signs up and raises a minimum of £100 for Cash for Kids by 31st March 2026 will be entered into a prize draw to win up to £500 worth of books.

There’ll be one winning school in the North East, and the winning school will be able to choose the books that best suit their pupils – whether that’s early years favourites, diverse new fiction, non-fiction for curious minds or titles to refresh your library shelves.

Fundraising made simple

Taking part couldn’t be easier. Your school could:

• Hold a dress down day

• Organise a second-hand book swap or sale

• Set a classroom fundraising challenge – we can provide sponsor forms

• Tie your fundraising into World Book Day celebrations

You'll be supporting a local charity, encouraging a love of reading, AND enhancing your school’s library or reading resources at the same time!
