Salford City are to request police reinvestigate allegations of racism aimed at one of their players during a pre-season friendly against York City.
Manager Karl Robinson led his players off the pitch in the closing stages of the game at the LNER Stadium in July.
But North Yorkshire Police closed an investigation last week, finding "no evidence" of a hate crime during the match.
Salford have now released a statement, which said they are "disappointed" with the outcome and will be requesting an independent review of the investigation.
The club said: "Our players, coaching staff, members and everybody at our Club stand united with Adebola, and we have also engaged the English Football League (EFL), the Professional Footballers ‘ Association (the players’ union), and Kick It Out, who have all offered their full and unequivocal support for the review application.
"The match officials, supported by their governing body PGMO, remain available to be contacted to provide their impartial accounts of events that evening.
"We will pursue every available avenue to ensure accountability, and together send a clear message that racism has no place in our sport."
At the time, York City said it was an "extremely distressing" incident and any supporter found guilty of abuse would face the strongest possible sanctions.
