Police treating huge Salford fire as arson
The blaze caused extensive damage to a business, a caravan and several cars on Bury New Road
Police have revealed they're treating a huge fire that tore through a commercial property, a caravan and several cars in Salford as arson.
Officers were called to an alarm activation on Bury New Road at around 1:50am on Thursday 6th August.
They found crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service already tackling a fire at a caravan next to the property, which had spread to the building.
No one was injured.
Detective Inspector Paul Davies, from Salford CID, said: "This was a huge fire that caused extensive damage to a commercial property and several vehicles."
He added: "We're treating this as arson and we're appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious, to come forward."
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the evening of Wednesday 5th August or the early hours of Thursday 6th August.
At this stage, police believe the incident was targeted, and say there is no wider risk to the public.
