Police searching for new-mum in Rochdale after "human tissue" found
Detectives say finding the woman and making sure she is safe is their priority
Detectives in Rochdale are appealing for information after evidence was found suggesting a woman may have recently given birth.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said there are concerns for the welfare of the woman.
Officers were called shortly before 9am on Thursday 22nd October to reports of suspected human tissue in Rochdale.
Police said officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries and examining the scene.
They are now asking anyone with information to come forward.
What police have said
Detective Inspector Daniel Daly, from GMP's Rochdale CID, said police are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry.
He said: "She may be in need of urgent medical attention, and she is our absolute priority at the moment - that is why we are asking anyone with information to contact us."
Detective Inspector Daly also asked people not to speculate about what has happened.
He said: "We would ask that people don't speculate on the circumstances of this discovery as it hinders our investigation and is upsetting for those involved."
How to pass on information
Police are asking anyone with information, or who may have seen a woman in distress, to call 101.
Detective Inspector Daly said: "Anyone with information, or who may have seen a woman in distress, is asked to call us on 101 and quote incident number 684 of 22/10/2026."
Information can also be reported online or through GMP's LiveChat service at www.gmp.police.uk .
