Police appeal after man dies following crash in Leigh
Officers are urging witnesses and drivers with dashcam footage of the incident on Atherleigh Way to come forward

Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision on Atherleigh Way in Leigh, which has resulted in the death of a man in his seventies.
Greater Manchester Police were called on Friday 16th January 2026 to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Atherleigh Way, close to the junction with Sale Way and near the Morrisons petrol station.
The collision involved a white Ford Kuga, which struck street furniture along the road. The driver, a man aged in his seventies, was treated at the scene by the North West Ambulance Service. His injuries were initially described as non-life threatening.
However, police say the man’s condition later deteriorated and he sadly died in hospital several days after the collision.
Appeal for witnesses
Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for witnesses as enquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
They are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the collision, or from anyone who has relevant CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage from Atherleigh Way in the moments leading up to the crash.
