Police are appealing for a woman believed to be a potential victim to come forward after a series of road traffic collisions in Rochdale, one of which tragically resulted in a fatality.

On Saturday 3rd May 2025, officers responded to reports of three separate incidents involving a car and pedestrians on Bury Road and Whitworth Road in Rochdale.

One of the victims, a woman struck on Whitworth Road, has sadly died from her injuries.

Keith Michael Knight, born 21st January 1976, of no fixed abode, has been charged with one count of murder and five counts of attempted murder.

He is currently remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again in November.

Detectives from the Major Incident Team have now identified a possible additional victim, captured on CCTV walking along Bury Road at the time of the incidents.

The woman, who remains unidentified, was walking on the pavement between the junctions of Woodlands Avenue and Moorgate Avenue towards Rochdale at approximately 2.24pm. It is believed that a car mounted the kerb and may have driven towards her, but she may not have recognised the seriousness of the situation at the time.

She is described as white, with short blonde and brown hair, and was wearing a light-coloured long-sleeved top, blue jeans, and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant Ella Purtill from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team said:

“Our investigation is progressing, and we have now identified another potential victim who we would like to speak to in connection with these incidents.

“We are appealing for this woman to come forward so we can speak to her and establish the full circumstances.
