WILDFIRES: Warnings after people seen lighting BBQs where firefighters are still battling flames
Crews are continuing to battle major fires at Dovestone and Swineshaw
People have been seen lighting barbecues near Greater Manchester’s moorland while firefighters continue tackling two major fires.
Crews are working in difficult conditions at Dovestone and Swineshaw, where firebreaks are being created to limit the spread of the flames.
People are being urged to stay away from the affected areas and not to light barbecues, campfires or any other open flames.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said people had already been seen visiting the area and lighting barbecues over the weekend.
It warned preventable fires could divert firefighters, vehicles and equipment away from the ongoing response.
Helicopters are continuing to carry out water drops and aerial surveys, while crews create additional firebreaks.
Specialist teams supporting response
Specialist national resilience teams are supporting the operation.
Firefighters from Derbyshire, South Wales, Lancashire and Hereford and Worcester are also involved.
The response includes local authorities, landowners, gamekeepers, United Utilities, the RSPB, the National Trust and other partner organisations.
Moorland fire safety advice
People visiting outdoor areas are being told not to light fires, use barbecues or set off fireworks.
Rubbish should be disposed of properly and anyone who sees a fire should call 999 and ask for the fire service.
