Manchester comes together to remember 9th Anniversary of arena bombing
Our thoughts are with the families are the 22 victims
Manchester is coming together once again today to mark the ninth anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing, remembering the 22 people who lost their lives.
Two minute-long silences will be observed at Victoria Station on Friday, first at noon and again at 10:31pm, the time the bomb was detonated.
22 people were killed and hundreds more were injured when suicide bomber Salman Abedi targeted crowds leaving an Ariana Grande concert on 22nd May 2017.
Tributes at the Glade of Light
The Glade of Light will be the focal point for personal remembrance and reflection throughout the day.
The permanent memorial near Manchester Cathedral has the names of the victims written into stone, forming a halo around a central garden.
Flowers will be laid at the site on behalf of the city by the new Lord Mayor of Manchester Cllr Shaukat Ali, Council Leader Bev Craig and Council Chief Executive Tom Stannard.

"Manchester will never forget "
“Manchester will never forget those who lost their lives in the 22 May 2017 terror attack, nor the many others who were injured or otherwise affected", Bev Craig said.
"Time passes but we will not allow their memories to fade. “On the ninth anniversary of that terrible day, we also remember the remarkable solidarity shown by the city in refusing to give in to hatred - and the resilience and courage shown by the loved ones of those who were killed and by survivors.”
