Man charged with rape of man in south Manchester

It follows an incident in Fallowfield in the early hours of Thursday morning

A 28-year-old man has been charged with the rape of a man in Fallowfield, south Manchester.

Police were called to reports of an intruder at an address on Furness Road at around 3:13am on Thursday 25 June.

As well as the offence of rape, Kyle Barrow (of Russell Avenue, Whalley Range) has been charged with attempted rape, grievous bodily harm and aggravated burglary.

Barrow has been remanded into custody before next appearing at Manchester Magistrates Court on Saturday 27 June.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Specialist officers are supporting the male victim as well as their family and friends at this time.

"This was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the local community."

"A visible police presence will remain in the area – please speak to our officers if you have any concerns."
