Investigation launched after Radcliffe home set on fire in middle of night

No injuries reported after fire was started through a letterbox

An investigation is underway after an arson attack at a home in Radcliffe.

Officers were called to Great Hall Close at around 2am on 4th April 2026 after a fire was started at a property.

It is believed a suspect poured an accelerant through the letterbox before setting it alight.

No injuries were reported.

Investigation ongoing

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department are now carrying out enquiries and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Officers said they believe the attack was targeted at a specific address and there is no wider risk to the public.

Detective Sergeant Niamh McCarthy said: “We understand this incident may cause concern within the community; however, our assessment is that it was a targeted attack, and there is no risk to the wider public.

"Our enquiries to identify those responsible are ongoing, and we urge anyone with information that may assist our investigation to come forward.”
