Huge emergency service response after building collapse in Oldham

A building has partially collapsed on King Street in Oldham, with emergency services called to the scene this afternoon.

Three fire engines from across Greater Manchester were sent to the scene at around 12.40pm on Tuesday 24th March.

Five people managed to get out of the building before firefighters arrived.

Three people have been treated for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Emergency response underway

Firefighters are working alongside Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to secure the area.

Crews remain at the scene while efforts continue to make the building safe.

Greater Manchester Police said: ‘We are currently responding to a partial building collapse on King Street, Oldham.

‘Officers are on scene with other emergency services working together to ensure the safety of the public.’

Road closures in place

A number of road closures have been put in place around King Street.

People are being asked to avoid the area while emergency services continue their work.
