Firefighters tackle three major moorland fires
Crews are on scene on both Marsden Moor and Saddleworth Moor
Emergency crews are currently battling wildfires on the moors near Greater Manchester this afternoon.
Two wildfires have broken out on Marsden Moor, which are being tackled by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service at Deer Hill and the Five Mile Post area.
Specialist wildfire teams are now on-site, supported by ten fire engines, as members of the public are advised to evacuate and avoid the area until the situation is under control.
A fire has also broken out of Saddleworth Moor.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service says they were called at around 2.15pm, seven fire engines are in attendance near Greenfield.
Officials advise avoiding the area and ask locals to close doors and windows for safety.
It comes on one of the warmest days of the year so far and almost exactly a month since West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to their first moorland fire of the year, also on Marsden Moor.
