Greater Manchester mayoral candidates to replace Andy Burnham are announced

The Greater Manchester mayoral by-election is set to take place on Thursday, 30th July, following Andy Burnham's recent resignation.
Burnham stepped down as mayor after returning to the House of Commons, having won the Makerfield by-election on 18th June.
He first won the mayoral seat in 2017 and secured two further terms before his departure.
Residents from all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester will soon have the opportunity to elect his successor.
Political parties are announcing their candidates for the forthcoming electoral contest.
Candidates who have so far been confirmed for the by-election, listed alphabetically by surname, include:
Geraldine Coggins, a Trafford councillor, is the Green candidate.
Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, is the Labour candidate.
Marlon West, a campaigner against sexual abuse, is the Restore Britain candidate.
Reform UK has announced Sian Astley, who runs a design and property business and is a councillor in Wythenshawe.
Polls will open on 30th July.
