Firefighters continue to tackle huge wildfire near Glossop

Firefighters are continuing to tackle a large wildfire at Snake Pass Summit, with smoke drifting into nearby areas including Glossop.
Crews from Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire are working together to bring the fire under control, alongside partners from the Fire Operations Group, local gamekeepers, landowners and Derby Mountain Rescue.
Nine fire engines are at the scene, supported by specialist vehicles including two wildfire units, a rural unimog, a welfare unit, a fuel bowser, two water carriers and a helicopter.
Smoke affecting surrounding areas
The fire is spreading across an area measuring around 1,200 metres by 600 metres.
A visible smoke plume is affecting parts of Glossop and surrounding locations.
People in those areas are being advised to keep windows and doors closed if they can see or smell smoke.
Road closed as crews respond
A closure is in place on Snake Pass between Glossop and Ladybower Reservoir while emergency services deal with the fire.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area while work continues to extinguish the blaze.
Emergency services remain at the scene as efforts continue to bring the situation under control.
