Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash in Salford.

Emergency services were called to reports of pedestrians being hit by a car close to Regent Road roundabout earlier today (Sunday 15th March).

A cordon and road closures are in place in Trafford Road and Broadway.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed officers are working at the scene - and the injuries suffered by those involved are not thought to be life-changing.

In a statement a spokesperson said:

"Two pedestrians, a male and a female, have been injured. At this stage, their injuries are not believed to be life‑threatening and are currently reported as minor.

"A significant road closure has been in place to support emergency services and investigative work. This closure remains in effect but is expected to be lifted within the next hour.

"Enquiries continue. The driver has been arrested on suspicion of attempted Section 18 assault, and their medical state is currently being assessed."
