An £1 billion plan for growth in Greater Manchester is due to be unveiled by Mayor Andy Burnham.

The proposals include 30 new developments across the city, including the regenerations of Victoria North and Wythenshawe, and new homes in the city centre.

Outlining their plans, city leaders said they wanted to heal the "north-south divide" that exists within Greater Manchester.

Money from city centre projects will be reinvested into developments in surrounding towns, like Bolton and Bury.

It comes as growth in Greater Manchester continues to outstrip the rest of the country, with an annual rate of 3.1%.

Leader of Manchester City Council Bev Craig said: "“Manchester is leading the way in trying to both supercharge our economy to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs, while also creating new opportunities for our residents and building homes everyone can afford.

"Our mission is clear, good growth that creates a world class city, a thriving economy and a place where everyone benefits."

The reveal comes a week ahead of Chancellor Rachel Reeves budget in Westminster.

Burnham has put pressure on Reeves to back rail and road projects in the North.
