Mayor of Greater Manchester, Bev Craig, has visited Ashton-under-Lyne to present her strategy for constructing 50,000 new council and genuinely affordable homes by the year 2039.

Focused on delivering 10,000 homes by May 2028, either through completion, construction, or planning, Craig will engage with local development partners at a site where 33 new social rent homes are underway.

The discussion will centre around the utilisation of disused brownfield sites, including public lands, transformed through public funding into affordable housing solutions for residents in Greater Manchester.

The visit is taking place at Stamford Street Central, Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside.

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority encourages interested parties to register their attendance by 5pm today.
