Two men stabbed and others attacked with chilli oil in Ashton-under-Lyne
Detectives believe the attacks are linked and have arrested two people
Two men have been taken to hospital after a series of attacks in Ashton-under-Lyne town centre, which police believe are linked.
The attacks happened on the evening of Tuesday 18th August and included reported stabbings, as well as assaults involving a liquid now found to be chilli oil.
Two men, aged 44 and 50, were taken to hospital with injuries consistent with stab wounds.
Police said their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Two people arrested
A 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault, or grievous bodily harm.
Both remain in custody for questioning.
Detectives believe the attacks are linked and said they are not looking for anyone else.
Investigation continues
Several locations were examined by detectives and forensic specialists, including scenes on Stamford Street and Warrington Street.
One scene remains in place on Wood Street as the investigation continues.
Police said there will be an increased presence in the area while enquiries go on.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any of the attacks, or who has relevant CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage.
