Family pay tribute to ‘beautiful spirit’ of stabbing victim found in east London garden

The family of a 35-year-old man who died after he was found with stab wounds in an east London garden have paid tribute to a “beautiful spirit” who brought “love, light and joy” to all who knew him.

Mark Orabiyi was found in the garden of a property in Rayleigh Road, Silvertown, after police were called to reports of a stabbing in nearby Pankhurt Avenue at around 9am on Friday, the Metropolitan Police said.

Mr Orabiyi was taken to hospital but died on arrival, despite the efforts of paramedics.

Second Man injured

A second man in his 20s, who also suffered stab wounds, remains in hospital, the force added.

His condition is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

In a statement, Mr Orabiyi’s family said: “Mark was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He brought love, light and joy to our family and to all who knew him.

“We will always cherish his kindness, beautiful spirit and remarkable talent. His presence touched many lives and his memory will remain in our hearts forever.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Murder investigation continues

The police have launched an investigation and three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder, the Met said.

A 27-year-old man has been released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released with no further action after being questioned.
