A third person's been arrested over an alleged arson attack at a former synagogue in east London
The 31 year old was held in Leyton yesterday on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life
Minor damage was done at the site in Whitechapel, but no-one was hurt
Moses Edwards 45, from Wanstead, has already been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and is next due to appear in court at the Old Bailey on June 5.
A 52-year-old woman who was also arrested in connection with the blaze was bailed until August.
The former synagogue is in the process of being bought by a Muslim community group with plans to convert it to a mosque and community centre.
Commander Helen Flanagan, head of counter-terrorism policing London, said:
“The investigation team are working at pace to arrest all those suspected of being involved in the arson attack on the former synagogue.
“I want to remind the public that, with the threat level now raised to severe, everyone can play their part to keep themselves and their communities safe. If you have concerns about someone behaving suspiciously, please report it to us. Your information could help us save lives.
“Counter-terrorism officers also continue to work closely with our colleagues in the Metropolitan Police in response to all the various incidents in recent months. We’re providing protective security advice and support to various organisations, community venues and businesses.”
