A 50-year-old man has died after suffering head injuries in an assault outside a pub in south-east London.

Stuart Tickner was injured in Station Road, Sidcup, at around 1am on Monday May 25 and taken to hospital, where he died five days later.

His daughter Megan Tickner paid tribute to him on Facebook, saying: “It is with a heavy heart and immense sadness that I am having to share that we lost my Dad on Saturday May 30.

“A week ago, he was unfortunately a victim of a serious assault which left him with head injuries which were so severe he could not recover from them.

“He lit up any room he walked into and was a bubbly, joyful soul. I will cherish the memories of us going to concerts together and singing karaoke.

“I’ll love and miss you always Dad.”

Assault on 'busy' road

Superintendent Kier Newman, of the South East Borough Command Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones following this tragic incident.

“The initial assault occurred outside a public house on a residential road, and we are keen to speak to anyone in the area who witnessed anything.”

On Tuesday, 26 May, a 36-year-old man presented at hospital, where he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in hospital.

Anyone with information is urged to call the police on 101, quoting reference 434/25MAY. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
