A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his son who died in 2021, 14 years after suffering a severe head injury.

Lejunae Wood, 42, of Wuppertal, Germany, was arrested on Thursday at Heathrow Airport and charged on Friday with the murder of Leajunne Wood.

The charge follows an incident in December 2007 in Hayes, west London, when Leajunne, who was then four months old, suffered injuries deemed to be life-changing, the Metropolitan Police said.

Leajunne died at the age of 14 on December 6th 2021, the force added.

Pathologist reports from 2023 revealed Leajunne died following complications from a severe head injury, the Met Police said.

Wood appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and spoke to confirm his identity.

Cathryn Evans, prosecuting, said the defendant is accused of the murder of his own child.

He will next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
