Man found guilty in connection with Uxbridge stabbings, including fatal attack
Dawood Safi's actions lead to manslaughter conviction and attempted murder trial outcome
A man has been found guilty in connection with a series of stabbings in Uxbridge that resulted in the death of a dog walker and injuries to two others.
Dawood Safi, 28, from Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge, was convicted at Southwark Crown Court on 16th July 2026 of attempted murder.
He had attacked his landlord, Shahzad Farrukh, on 27th October 2025.
Safi also pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility concerning the death of Wayne Broadhurst, 49, who was fatally stabbed while walking his dog.
Safi was charged with attempted murder after inflicting knife wounds on a teenage boy during the incident.
The jury did not reach a verdict on this count, although Safi had previously pleaded guilty to section 47 assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Details of the Attack
During the afternoon of 27th October 2025, Safi approached the home of his landlord carrying a large kitchen knife.
Upon Mr Farrukh opening the door, Safi attacked him with the delusional belief that he had been refused help.
He inflicted multiple stab wounds to Mr Farrukh’s neck, back, and chest, resulting in a punctured lung.
Safi then encountered Wayne Broadhurst nearby, chasing him down before stabbing him repeatedly.
Despite quick response from emergency services, Mr Broadhurst succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Manslaughter Plea and Diminished Responsibility
David Malone, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor at CPS London North, highlighted the intricacies involved in the case.
“This was a truly shocking attack that claimed the life of Wayne Broadhurst and left two others with serious injuries, and our thoughts remain with Mr Broadhurst’s family,” Malone said.
Following extensive psychiatric evaluations, it was agreed that Safi’s psychotic depression severely impaired his cognitive functions at the time of the attack.
This led to accepting a plea of manslaughter by diminished responsibility for the death of Mr Broadhurst.
Outcome of Attempted Murder Charges
Safi’s mental health was acknowledged to have affected his ability to rationalise; however, he was still believed to have intended to kill.
This partial defence did not apply to attempted murder charges, leading CPS to pursue trial for these serious accusations.
The jury found Safi guilty of attempted murder against Mr Farrukh while failing to conclude on the charge relating to the teenage boy.
The CPS has opted not to seek a retrial for this count.
Safi had earlier admitted to assault occasioning actual bodily harm concerning the boy.
Dawood Safi is set to be sentenced on 5th October 2026.
