Driver admits causing death by dangerous driving in Marylebone
53 year old Tracey Nicholls was fatally injured in December 2023.
A driver has admitted knocking down a woman as she crossed the road in west London.
Paul Jones, 31, was behind the wheel of a Renault Trafic van which hit and fatally injured Tracey Nicholls in Marylebone on December 7 2023.
Scotland Yard had said police were called at about 10pm to reports of two women injured in a collision with a vehicle on Marylebone Road.
Mrs Nicholls, 53, was treated by emergency services but died at the scene.
The second woman, in her 40s, was taken to hospital but was later discharged.
Police said the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and was found parked nearby.
On Friday, Jones, from West Turville, Buckinghamshire, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to causing the death by dangerous driving.
Jones appeared tearful as he also admitted a second charge of causing death by driving while uninsured.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC adjourned sentencing until May 1 and granted Jones conditional bail.
He told the defendant: “You will receive a lengthy prison sentence for the death you caused by your dangerous driving.
“You are disqualified from driving with immediate effect.”
Judge Lucraft extended his condolences to Mrs Nicholls’ family in court, including her widower and mother.
