The London Cycling Campaign has created an interactive map ranking the 100 most dangerous places for cyclists

The most accident prone spot is on Tooting Upper Road which has unprotected cycle lanes

Simon Munk, who is Head of Campaigns and Community Development at London Cycling Campaign, explains what the top 100 junctions tend to have in common

"Number one the Tooting cluster. It's a classic example of that, which is an old legacy cycle highway, superhighway like route, an old cycle route that doesn't really have lots of protection on it and where they've not done anything about the side roads.

And it's those rat run side roads, you know, through traffic side roads. So there's drivers cutting across the track, you know, meets at the same time, thousands and thousands of cyclists every day using this junction."

A key goal of the map is to encourage faster action on making these junctions safer.

Simon added what is a common sight at these highly dangerous junctions.

"You see is people like cutting across the pavement, you see people trying to get across on the pedestrian crossing, you see all sorts of people doing really like risky manoeuvres in order to try and just kind of deal with the chaos of that junction."
