Kenny Jackett, a prominent figure in English football management, has died at the age of 64, according to an announcement made by the League Managers Association (LMA) on behalf of his family.

Jackett's career spanned four decades, during which he made significant contributions to various clubs in the English Football League (EFL). He is remembered for his professionalism, dedication, and his influence on many players, coaches, and colleagues.

Reflecting on Jackett’s impact on the game, Richard Bevan, Chief Executive of the LMA, said, “Kenny stands as one of the most respected managers to have plied their trade in the EFL, a hugely capable leader whose work across four decades has left a lasting influence on the many players, coaches and colleagues who benefitted from his guidance.”

Bevan stated that Jackett was an embodiment of humility and professionalism, displaying a deep care for those around him.

Jackett's involvement in football began at Watford, where he rose through the ranks under Graham Taylor, becoming a key player during one of the club's most exciting periods.

His remarkable record of managing over 900 games stands testament to his professional resilience and commitment.

Later in his career, Jackett took on technical and strategic roles, including serving as director of football at Gillingham, where his experience continued to influence others in the sport.

The football community mourns Jackett's passing, with thoughts extending to his wife Samantha, sons David and Ryan, and his family and friends.
