Woman stabbed in Bootle shop named by police
Nilani Nimalarajah was killed on Friday 20 June
A woman who was stabbed to death in a shop in Bootle has been named as 44-year-old Nilani Nimalarajah.
Emergency services were called to reports of an attack in the shop on Stanley Road at around 17:00BST on Friday 20 June.
Nimalarajah was taken to hospital where she died a short time later, with a post-mortem confirming she suffered a stab wound to the chest.
A 47-year-old man from Widnes, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place, remains in hospital.
Her family have been notified and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Officers remain at the shop on Stanley Road as enquiries remains ongoing.
