Woman and two babies hospitalised after Rainhill bus and car crash
An investigation is underway after a serious crash on Warrington Road
A woman and two babies have been taken to hospital following a crash between a bus and a car in Rainhill.
Police were called just before 10.30am on Friday 31st July to a crash involving a bus and a grey Audi A3.
It happened on Warrington Road, at the junction with Chatsworth Road.
The occupants of the car, a woman in her 40s and two babies, were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.
Enquiries are continuing to establish whether anyone on board the bus was hurt, though police say none of their injuries are believed to be serious at this stage.
Road closures were put in place while emergency services dealt with the scene.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper, from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said the force is at an early stage in its enquiries.
"We are in the very early stages of investigating this serious collision and would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward," Roper said.
"An investigation is now underway to find out the full circumstances of this collision and we are determined to get answers," Roper said.
"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was travelling in the area at the time with a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to make contact with our team," Roper said.
"Also, if you live in the area and have a CCTV system, I would be grateful if you could check your footage to see if you captured anything, even if it appears insignificant because it could prove vital to our enquiries," Roper said.
