Police have released CCTV images of a man they believe may have information after a shopper was assaulted in the veg aisle of a Walton supermarket.

The incident happened at around 1.50pm on Monday 14th July at Asda on Breckfield Road South.

A man in his 40s was reportedly shopping when he left his trolley unattended. Another man then rammed the victim’s trolley with his own, sparking a verbal argument before the victim was punched and kicked, leaving him with a broken nose.

Police want to speak to this man about the incident

The offender fled the scene after supermarket staff intervened.

Detective Inspector Natalie Charlesworth said:

“This was an unproved attack while the victim was going about this own business at the supermarket, he was assaulted and suffered a broken nose as well as being very shaken and distressed. We are taking this incident very seriously as no one should be subjected to or tolerate such senseless behaviour.

“Extensive enquiries are underway, including speaking to witnesses, forensics, CCTV and house-to-house. I would urge anyone with information or if you recognise one of the suspects to let us know, either by reporting directly to us or anonymously via Crimestoppers. Similarly, if you recognise yourself in the pictures, come forward and let us know.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’. Reports can also be made through the police website at Report a crime | Merseyside Police or by calling 101 quoting reference 25000581566.
