Two remain in hospital after Christmas Eve collision
Two people remain in hospital, one in a serious condition after Christmas Eve collision on the East Lancashire Road.
At around 9pm, it was reported that a black Ford Puma and a grey Audi A4 were involved.
Police confirmed a 32-year-old man from Liverpool who was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink-drug driving has been released on conditional bail.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, the Lead Investigating Officer from the Merseyside Police Serious Collision Investigation unit said: "This was a terrible incident, and our thoughts remain with both people being treated in hospital and the child.
“Road crashes cause devastating consequences for those involved at any time of the year, but for this to occur on Christmas Eve is especially difficult.
“It is our absolute priority to get answers for those involved and their family. To that end if you witnessed this collision, the build up to it or have any other information and have yet to speak to my team, please get in touch.
“Equally if you were in the area of the East Lancashire Road and Stonebridge Lane at the time, please check your front and rear dash cameras if you have them fitted. They can often record vital evidence that you may be totally unaware of. This could be crucial to our investigation.”
