Two men are set to go on trial in connection with a crash that killed a great-grandmother in Allerton.

Margaret 'Peggy' Fairbrother, 87, known to her family as Peggy, was a front-seat passenger in a green Peugeot that collided with a black Ford Focus on 21 September 2024, at the junction of Menlove Avenue and Beaconsfield Road.

She was rushed to hospital by ambulance, but died a short time later.

The driver of the Peugeot, Bryan Fairbrother, 60, has denied causing death by careless driving, while the driver of the Focus, Gavin Franey, 25, has pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

A trial has been set for 17 May 2027.

In a tribute following her death, Margaret's family said:

"Peggy has sadly passed away aged 87. She was a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed deeply by all her family and friends."
