Three hurt after Skelmersdale collision
Lancashire Police say they were called to reports a caravan had become detached from a car that had been towing it on Wednesday.
An investigation has begun after three pedestrians were left injured in a road traffic collision in Skelmersdale.
Lancashire Police officers were called to Beechtrees at 8:30pm on Wednesday 19 August 19th following reports three people had been injured following a collision with a dark blue Range Rover Vogue towing a caravan.
It was reported that the caravan detached from the car, with the caravan mounting the pavement and colliding with two pedestrians.
The pedestrians, two 18-year-old women, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One of the women remains in hospital at this time and the other has now been discharged.
The driver of the Range Rover left the scene in the car, colliding with a woman in her 30's who it is believed was trying to stop him leaving, causing her minor injuries.
Following enquiries, the Range Rover was traced to the West Yorkshire area and a 44-year-old man from Rotherham was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and assault. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The force is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, have any information or dashcam/doorbell/CCTV footage that could help (including any footage of the Range Rover before or after the collision), to contact officers on 101 quoting log 1283 of 19th August or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at [email protected].
