Thief banned from three Liverpool stores
A 34 year old has also been jailed for 16 weeks.
A man has been banned from entering three stores in Liverpool after being found guilty of 10 thefts from a supermarket.
Keiron Murphy, aged 34, of no fixed address was found guilty of 10 theft shops from Sainsburys, Rice Lane over an 8-week period and sentenced to 16 weeks in prison. He was also issued with a three year Criminal Behaviour Order at Wirral Magistrates Court on Thursday 20 August.
Murphy was handed the order following an extensive investigation between the Sainsburys store and Lower Lane Neighbourhood Officers between January 2026 and April 2026. During this period it was reported that Murphy committed 17 shop theft offences totalling nearly £2000.
Under the conditions Murphy is banned from Sainsburys on Rice Lane, Sainsburys Petrol Station on Rice Lane and Morrisons Daily on County Road. He must not wear any face coverings whilst inside any retail premises within Merseyside and must leave any store immediately when directed to do so by staff or security.
Speaking after the sentencing Neighbourhood policing Sergeant Kevin Cross said: “This result demonstrates the strong partnership working between Merseyside Police and retailers to tackle repeat offenders and protect local businesses.
“These types of offences are not victimless crimes – they can have a devastating ripple effect that can lead to people losing their jobs and prices rising as businesses seek to make up for the lost revenue which can have a huge economic impact on employers and the staff who work there.
“We welcome the court's decision, including the Criminal Behaviour Order and custodial sentence, which sends a clear message that persistent retail theft will not be tolerated within our communities.”
