The Stop For Good campaign has been launched by Cheshire and Merseyside public health leaders, aiming to inspire smokers to quit with the help of powerful local stories, including that of Julie Connor from Liverpool.

Julie, a mum from Knowsley who faced a health scare, decided to quit smoking to be present for her son, Curtis.

Her story features prominently in the campaign's television advert, with a voiceover by Curtis adding a deeply personal touch.

The campaign highlights health risks tied to tobacco use, noting that up to two-thirds of smokers ultimately have their lives cut short unless they quit.

Independent research commissioned by NHS Cheshire and Merseyside reveals that 26 percent of smokers express a desire to quit for their family and friends, while 19 percent worry about the example smoking sets for children.

Julie shares her experience of quitting, emphasizing the improvements she has noticed in her health and encouraging others to take action for their children and loved ones.

" I did it stopped smoking and its been nearly 2 years now. I am massively proud of myself! It was super hard, but obviously I've got him and he looks at me and smiles and it gives me that ' right, I'm doing the right thing - I can do this.' "

Through stories like Julie's, the campaign aims to provide motivation and support for individuals to address their smoking habits and consider a healthier lifestyle for themselves and those they care about.
