Detective Inspector Natalie Charlesworth said: “This is very much a live investigation and our enquiries continue, so I would strongly advise that people are mindful of this so as not to jeopardise proceedings. We understand the concern that such an incident causes in our communities and we will continue to provide a visible presence in the area and respond to all information that comes in.
“From our initial enquiries, we believe that the men involved are known to each other and as such this is being treated as a targeted attack. Nonetheless, I’d still encourage anyone to come forward directly to police or anonymously via Crimestoppers and we will continue to take action.
“The incident was at a busy junction and as such we believe that there will still be witnesses who potentially hold vital information, or people with footage or images which may assist. I’d ask anyone passing the junction at around 10pm to check any devices as soon as you can.”
