A Liverpool charity who have been supporting young people for over 40 years are appealing for help to preserve their future.

Yellow House, inspired by Vincent van Gogh, was formed by George Mc Kane in the 1980s and became a registered charity in 1993.

In that time they have offered excluded young people a safe space, free from judgement, to be themselves.

The charity utilises the arts to increase their self-confidence and interpersonal skills and to create friendships.

However, cashflow issues have developed after focus turned to the care and treatment of founder and mentor George Mc Kane, who bravely fought cancer.

He spent 13 months in hospital and continued his recovery at home.

Mr Mc Kane is now working again, but is appealing for help to make sure their decades of work can continue.

He said:

"Yellow House is going through a very difficult time financially. I'm back working with the young people... but we weren't able to do the funding bids that we used to, I am writing bids but they can take six months or even longer to answer. In the meanwhile, we are struggling very seriously with cashflow problems.

"We need your help. You, my good friends, can save Yellow House."
