Two men have been found guilty of murder and three others convicted of manslaughter in connection with the tragic death of Paul Foster, who was fatally stabbed in West Derby on 15th October 2024.

The incident occurred after a group of five individuals attempted a robbery at a flat on Muirhead Avenue, during which 47-year-old Foster was stabbed once in the back and succumbed to his injuries.

Described by his family as "a much-loved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a true friend to many," Foster's death has left a profound impact on his loved ones.

At Liverpool Crown Court, Zayd Alasaly, 24, and Michael Fields, 49, have been found guilty of murder.

In addition, Elsadig Abrahim, 61, Dylan Blundell, 27, and Sarah Kasseum, 40, were convicted of manslaughter for their involvement.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath commented on the case: “These individuals clearly targeted Paul Foster and not only subjected him to a robbery, but tragically he lost his life after being stabbed."

All five defendants are scheduled for sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court on 21st May, as the investigation concludes following their convictions.

"Our thoughts remain with his friends and family as they continue to grieve their loss," added Detective Chief Inspector McGrath.
