Nine-year-old rushed to hospital after being hit by bus in Birkenhead
It happened in New Ferry earlier this afternoon
A nine-year-old girl has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a bus in New Ferry, Birkenhead this afternoon, Tuesday 15th July.
Emergency services were called to the scene on New Chester Road, near the junction with Platt Grove, at around 3.50pm following reports of a serious collision involving the child and a bus.
The girl's condition is currently being assessed in hospital. No further details about the severity of her injuries have been confirmed.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “Emergency services are in Birkenhead following a serious collision this afternoon… A nine-year-old girl has been taken to hospital for assessment of a head injury.”
As a result of the incident, a police cordon has been set up and New Chester Road is currently closed from the junction of Woodward Road to the junction of Dell Grove. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and plan an alternative route.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant footage to come forward.
