The Liverpool City Region has unveiled the interior of its first new Mersey Ferry in over 60 years, providing a sneak peek at the vessel's contemporary design.

Named the Royal Daffodil, the ferry showcases a sophisticated lounge on its Main Deck and state-of-the-art bridge, all designed to offer an unparalleled passenger experience.

The handover from Wirral-based shipbuilder APCL Cammell Laird to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority marks a significant milestone in the ferry’s development.

Designed to enhance the region's visitor economy, the new ferry aims to combine comfort, functionality, and striking design.

Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, expressed pride in the development, highlighting the ferry's place within the public transport network alongside new trains and buses.

The ferry will feature spacious decks, new seating areas, and vibrant bars offering stunning views across the River Mersey.

Additionally, dedicated event spaces will allow the ferry to serve as a unique venue for various functions, offering an iconic setting by the waterfront.

Accessibility is central to the design, with a lift for easy access to the upper deck ensuring all passengers enjoy its facilities and panoramic views.

Built as part of a £26 million investment to modernise the Mersey Ferries fleet, this new vessel will soon enhance both daily commutes and visitor experiences.

With comprehensive captain and crew training set to commence, the Royal Daffodil is expected to take to the waters later this year.
