Motorcyclist arrested after serious crash in Chester

An investigation's underway as police seek witnesses and dashcam footage

A motorcyclist has been arrested following a serious road traffic accident in Chester.

The collision, which occurred at around 5.09am on 19th September, involved a black Kawasaki Z650 D2 motorcycle in the Backford area on A41 Liverpool Road near Heath Farm.

The 22-year-old rider suffered minor injuries and has been arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving, drug driving, driving without a valid licence, and driving without insurance.

He is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

The pillion passenger, also a 22-year-old man, sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at Countess of Chester Hospital.

Detective Sergeant Amy Hollis has called for anyone in the Liverpool Road area at the time of the incident who may have witnessed the event or has video footage to contact Cheshire Police.

Hollis emphasised the seriousness of the collision and requested that people refrain from speculation, particularly on social media, as investigations are ongoing.
